The Women’s Alliance of Ladakh Shopping Hub

Built as a response to the well-established dominance of men in most business spheres, this market exists in solidarity with the women’s rights movement. The Shopping Hub is handled by women, through and through. The market not only provides one with extraordinary stories behind the lives of the women managing this hub, but also with a glorious view of the nearby mountaintops, and a plethora of clothes, shawls, essentials, and items of the Pashmina variety.

Created in 1991 by Helena Norberg-Hodge, the Shopping Hub continues to uplift women from villages, while being located in the prime area for small businesses, Chubi.
