LIVE A LEGACY

Chittoor Kottaram is the abode of an erstwhile king, where luxury emanates from subtle touches of bespoke solitude. And time stops, so that you can keep it for yourself. Resting on the banks of the quaint backwaters of Kerala, Chittoor Kottaram has stood witness to over two centuries of history. The single-key mansion is the epitome of privacy. The entire entourage caters to a single occupant or a family at a time. With cosy rooms, a personal service staff and abundance of us-time – all for yourself, it is a getaway to make memories you will cherish for a lifetime.

THE HISTORY

Way back in the 19th century, the Raja of Cochin built a palace near his ancestral Krishna temple. Away from the bustle of the capital, it housed his entourage that would cater to him when he visited the temple. And thus came into being Chittoor Kottaram, the king’s residence.

YOUR MOMENTS IN TIME

Step out of the veranda, and on to the dew-laden lawns for a cup of tea, and you have a view of the water lilies floating over the glittering backwaters. An occasional Brahminy kite will spread its wings to show you the expanse of your realm, and a blue kingfisher will fly close to the water, looking for its prey. In the evenings, a sunset cruise on the backwaters will take you on a tour of your kingdom, chugging past idyllic villages snuggled amidst coconut groves. You return at dusk to diya-studded lawns with a glow that reflects your state of mind. A TREASURE TROVE OF TALES As you take in the understated yet awe-inspiring architecture, you will walk across corridors once graced by kings and queens. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, and one on the first floor with an attached living room. The spaces are embellished with antique furniture and artefacts with their own stories to tell.

A FEAST FOR THE SENSES

The cuisine served comprises of the best kept secrets from Kerala’s kitchens. It includes authentic vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes prepared by your personal chef in the traditional way. The highlight of the menu is the fresh catch of the day from the nearby backwaters. You will be served your meal at any location of your choice – by the waterside with a view of the lake, at the gazebo, in the veranda, or in the company of nature in the open garden.

AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

Throughout its history, Chittoor Kottaram has witnessed stunning performances by patrons of art. In keeping with tradition, we can arrange classical music and dance performances exclusively for you. If you wish to indulge in holistic well-being, go for a session of authentic Ayurveda therapy or Yoga. You can also step out to explore the town of Fort Kochi to experience its vibrant cultures and rich heritage.
