The first trip

The coast of the Indian Peninsula is very scenic and no one has ever tried to go the distance, 5000kms, along the coast from Mumbai to Kanyakumari to Kolkata in a car, with 5 women.

I chose 6 women, from various backgrounds, who could drive a car, who drove along, in parts with  me.

The idea was to travel for 28 days from coast to coast, from the west to the east.

We began the journey on 4th January 2015 and it will end on 31st January 2015.

Why did we do this?

  • One, because we all were really passionate about travelling! We wanted to explore these places together and meet different people! We were enthusiastic about making this happen.
  • Two, because we planned on meeting interesting women all along the coast, who would tell us interesting stories about their lives. For example, we met Claire Prest in Odisha, from Grass Route Journeys or we met Anushree Gupta, a musician from Kolkata. We will be publishing their stories in the form of a blog.
  • Three, in India, some families are averse to and apprehensive about sending their daughters on long trips by themselves. It is safe for women to travel together and BuffyFish is a platform for them to get together and travel together to different places.
  • Four, because no one did something like this before!
