2. Scylax – In 515 BC, Scylax explored the Indus and the sea route across the Indian Ocean to Egypt. Read more about Scylax, here.
3. Faxian was a Chinese Buddhist monk who travelled from China to India by foot. He came to India during the reign of Chandragupta II. He is known to have visited many sacred Buddhist sites on his journey, some of which are now in Xinjiang, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He traveled between 399-412 CE to acquire Buddhist texts. His journey is described in his important travelogue, A Record of Buddhist Kingdoms, Being an Account by the Chinese Monk Fa-Xian of his Travels in India and Ceylon in Search of the Buddhist Books of Discipline. His name is also transliterated as Fa-Hien and Fa-hsien. Read more about Faxian here.
